A new low has been reached by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram Editorial Department with their latest, bend-over-backwards valentine to Chesapeake Energy.

In todays (6/14/08) editorial they applaud Chesapeake Energy's decision to "re-light" the former Pier 1 building, (now Chesapeake HQ) with the flimsiest of rationales:

It will make us all feel better.

The editor writes how, "times are tough and oil prices are out of control", all of which can be depressing. So let's get all goose-bumpy over the Chesapeake Building????? Give me a ... break.

Besides, we live atop the, "Blessed by God Barnett Shale", by God, where "FREE" money bubbles up from the ground. (Ignore the saltwater, carcinogens and NORM) As Chesapeake and Mayor Mike Moncrief keep reminding us, We All Win!!! read more of this posting »

Perfect timing. On the very night of the Gas Drilling Task Farce public hearings, Chesapeake is once again, "Doing Fort Worth" in grand style.

With the flip of a switch, Chesapeake's supreme commander, Aubrey (Adolf) McClendon, his propaganda minister, Julie (Joseph) Wilson and their water carrier, Mike (Herman) Moncrief, flip the middle finger to the citizens of Dirty Ol' Town. read more of this posting »

Need more proof that Urban Gas Drilling is an incredibly dumb idea?

Need to be reminded why Fort Worth, Texas is fast becoming a, Dirty Ol' Town?

Scott McClain of KRGV NewsChannel 5 in McAllen has done an amazing investigative report that shows leaky natural gas pipelines owned by XTO Energy have helped create one of the largest known areas of contamination in the U.S. - a 33 acre pool of highly toxic, highly explosive substance floating atop groundwater UNDER the city.

Check out Txsharon's blog site for a link to the video:

XTO Energy CEO, Bob Simpson collected $56.6 MILLION dollars in 2007.

His company made 5.51 BILLION dollars in 2007.

They fly the American flag atop their gas rigs.

They also killed two Golden Eagles and all it cost them was $20,000.

They have no comment?

Apparently, he/they have no shame, either.

They can keep their dirty money.

I'm damn glad I didn't sign away MY mineral rights to a shameless company like XTO.

FWCanDo predicted three years ago that urban gas drilling would push Fort Worth even FURTHER out of compliance with federal air quality standards. The report below from Wyoming, illustrates what happens to air quality when gas drilling is out of control.

After a year of intense drilling in the Barnett Shale region and the summer ozone season nearly upon us, you might want to invest in a gas mask and a geiger counter.

Thanks for nothing, Mayor Moncrief.

Citizens of the Shale(s):

The following Pop Quiz is REQUIRED before investing in the Barnett, Marcellus or any other Shale. Do not even consider signing a mineral lease until you have done your homework and can answer the questions satisfactorily.

If you have already signed, put on the Dunce Cap and stand in the corner until the mess you helped create is cleaned up OR, until hell freezes over, whichever comes first.

I have made it easy for you by sending you educational emails for...three...long...years. If you have been paying attention you should already know the answers. Just in case you dozed off (hahaha), I have included some helpful hints.

1) Where do the toxic by-products of urban gas drilling end up? (see burning salt water in Erath County and inside your own body) read more of this posting »

Citizens of the Shale:

Your attention please.

Wrap your mind around this.

When infinity burns in Erath County, Texas, you know you're in trouble. (see below)

In case you haven't heard, Barnett Shale salt water is flammable, toxic and radioactive.

Clean burning? Nnnnot exactly.

(Hi diddle dee dee, the guinea pig life for me!)

While Fort Worth Mayor, Mike Moncrief fiddles, Erath burns.

How are things in YOUR town?

-----Hot off the wire:

Rusty Middleton, author of, What Lies Beneath, for the Texas Observer, has written a sequel of sorts titled, War of the Wells, for the current, April 4th issue.

Middleton reports on the failure of the Texas Railroad Commission to protect the public from out-of-control natural gas production. Rusty spent a couple of days in Fort Worth last January to see, up close, what urban gas drilling looks like.

EVEN if you have already signed away your mineral rights, you will want to read this report, :

-----IMPORTANT! Vote April 8th!

Do something positive to help clean up the gas drilling industry: read more of this posting »

After receiving my newly minted gas drilling lease in the mail Friday I took a drive around the greater Meadowbrook area of east Fort Worth. I wanted to try and remember what it looked like two years ago before drilling started and before the next wave hits.

For one who studies urban gas drilling like a monk studies scripture, I was still taken aback at the extent to which our neighborhood has changed in such a short span of time.

We are surrounded by gas wells. From the edge of downtown to the east Loop, there is no escaping them. They have replaced former ball fields, drive-ins, native prairie, floodplains and wildlife habitat along the Trinity River. Now the drillers want to get closer to our homes. read more of this posting »
