Looking Backwards
The Star-Telegram editorial staff has put a bee in my bonnet.
In their 2/25/08 editorial titled, Looking Ahead, they have the nerve to suggest that urban gas drilling may cause some, unforeseen "issues in years to come." They write about "special challenges presented by urban gas drilling" like it's a pothole problem.
They go on to write that, "Neighborhood activists who are concerned about urban gas drilling should pay attention..."
Excuse me, Dear Editor, but FWCanDo and others were frantically waving our arms trying to tell you this over two years ago!
We WERE and ARE paying attention. We're waiting for you to catch up.
What were YOU doing back then, Dear Editor? You had your head stuck up to your ears in the money trough unable to hear or see anything except the Chamber of Commerce and the Oil/Gas lobby.
What did you write back then, Dear Editor? That many of our concerns were unwarranted; that the benefits outweighed the costs; that, "all boats will rise." You barely touched on any issue other than noise and money. You avoided environmental concerns and corruption by elected officials like the plague.
Apparently you haven't changed much. I see that you still list the industry propaganda website, BSEEC, as a legitimate reference. So much for ethics in journalism.
