J.R. for President! All Over Again!

J.R. has gone solar!!!

Who woulda' thunk it? The irascible J.R. Ewing of Dallas has cashed out of the oil biz game and jumped into solar. Big time. I would not lie to you.

He's dropped that worn out phrase, "Drill, baby, drill." and replaced it with, "Shine, baby, shine."

What's his motivation? Money, of course. A tiger can't change it's spots! Still, this is good news for clean energy and bad news for planet plunderers like, Aubrey McClendon, Bob Simpson, Mike Moncrief and Rex Tillerson.

Now for the rest of the story.... A few years back, the real life J.R., Larry Hagman, 78, installed what may be the world's largest residential solar array on the roof of his home in Ojai, California. (He even powers his car with solar energy!)

Being a big fan of solar, Hagman decided to loan his alter ego to the German company, Solar World, after witnessing the latest drilling disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. He helped write and appears in commercials for the company which go viral this week. Here's a stand-out line from the script:

"In the past it was always about the oil. The oil was flowing and so was the money. Too dirty. I quit it years ago."

Take that, Tommy Lee Jones!

Check out this report in the NY Times and watch a commercial for Solar World. It will brighten your day:
